Alexys N. Harrington is a recent graduate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. She graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience, as well as a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology. 

Alexys began her research work in the Sontheimer Laboratory at Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute in January 2016 where she conducted research for her senior thesis paper, "The Role of Astrocytes in Single and Repeated Mild Traumatic Brain Injury".

Starting in July 2016, Alexys began her work in the Robel Lab, where she was working as an Undergraduate Researcher studying the subcellular distribution of the astrocytic intermediate filament, Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) in the healthy brain as well as GFAP, Vimentin and Nestin after single and repeated mild Traumatic Brain Injury.

In January 2017, using immunohistochemistry and the Nikon A1R Confocal Microscope, Alexys led her own personal project studying GFAP and the astrocytic response of single and repeated traumatic brain injury in the healthy and diseased brain. 

​

Alexys also has a strong business background and is the Chief Editor of our Website and responsible for managing our social media pages.
